The PIKE Bolt Press is the ultimate budget-friendly solution for transmission FTIR sample preparation. It consists of a stainless steel body and two polished bolts. By placing the KBr/sample mixture between the bolts and tightening them with a pair of wrenches, the user can create a 7 mm pellet directly inside the press body.The press body itself then acts as the sample holder and is placed directly into the spectrometer using a standard 2 x 3" slide mount. This eliminates the need for a separate press, die set, or pellet holder. While it requires more physical effort than a hydraulic press, it is a highly effective tool for teaching labs and facilities with very low sampling volumes
