art photonics ATR Probes – Shaft-in-Shaft Design

A modular ATR probe featuring a unique shaft-in-shaft construction for easy fiber replacement and enhanced mechanical protection in laboratory and pilot plant reactors

Product Overview

The Art Photonics Shaft-in-Shaft ATR Probe is a specialized solution for users who require frequent maintenance flexibility or enhanced protection for their delicate infrared fibers. The design consists of an outer protective sleeve (the "outer shaft") and an inner optical assembly that contains the PIR fibers and ATR crystal. This allows the inner optical core to be removed or replaced without fully dismantling the probe's mounting hardware from the reactor. This design is particularly beneficial for long-term studies where the outer shaft may be exposed to abrasive or fouling environments. By separating the optical path from the structural pressure seal, the Shaft-in-Shaft design increases the longevity of the expensive fiber components while providing a robust mechanical barrier against vibration and physical impact

Key Features

  • Modular Maintenance: Inner optical core can be replaced without removing the outer sleeve.
  • Double Protection: Two layers of high-grade steel protect the infrared fibers.
  • Versatile Mounting: Compatible with standard compression fittings and flanges.
  • Advanced Sealing: Features secondary seals to prevent reactor leakage in case of tip damage.
  • Interchangeable Tips: Inner assemblies can be swapped for different crystal materials
