Product Overview
The PIKE HATR represents a significant advancement in routine Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) spectroscopy, designed to provide the increased sensitivity required for analyzing low-concentration components. By utilizing a multiple-reflection optical path, offering either 10 or 20 internal reflections, the system effectively increases the sampling pathlength, making minor chemical bands significantly more apparent than with standard single-reflection accessories. This makes it an ideal workstation for the quantitative analysis of complex formulations, such as additives in fuel or carbohydrate content in aqueous solutions.
The modularity of the HATR platform allows for total configuration flexibility through a wide range of interchangeable sampling plates. Each plate is pin-mounted to the optical base, ensuring permanent alignment and rapid changeover between Trough Plates for liquids and Flat Plates for polymers or large solid samples. For advanced research, the system can be upgraded with flow-through cells for dynamic reaction monitoring and integrated temperature control (up to 120°C) for thermal stability studies.
Engineered for durability, PIKE HATR trough and sealed plates utilize metallic gaskets instead of epoxy bonds, eliminating the risk of cross-contamination and premature seal failure. The accessory also features an integrated purge tube interface that connects directly to the FTIR spectrometer’s internal system, removing water vapor and CO2 artifacts for pristine, high-fidelity spectral data.
