Product Overview
The Specac Gateway™ represents a versatile solution for laboratories requiring higher sensitivity than standard single-reflection ATR accessories can provide. By utilizing a 6-reflection optical path, the system effectively increases the interaction between the infrared beam and the sample, resulting in an effective pathlength of approximately 26 microns (with ZnSe). This enhanced sensitivity makes it an ideal workstation for detecting low-concentration components in aqueous solutions, oils, and complex food or biological matrices.
The defining characteristic of the Gateway™ platform is its modularity. The accessory features a series of interchangeable top plates that can be swapped in seconds without the use of tools. Users can transition effortlessly from a trough top plate for liquids and pastes to a flat top plate for polymer films and powders. For advanced research, the system supports specialized environmental plates, including electrically heated versions capable of reaching 200°C and flow-through cells for real-time process monitoring and reaction kinetics.
Engineered for long-term stability, the Gateway™ utilizes Specac's proprietary Benchmark™ baseplate system, ensuring that the accessory remains permanently aligned within the spectrometer sample compartment. The optics are fully enclosed and purgeable, minimizing the impact of atmospheric water vapor and CO2 on your spectral data. Whether used for routine quality control or fundamental academic research, the Gateway™ delivers a robust and expandable platform for diverse molecular characterization.
