Product Overview

The PIKE AutoATR represents a significant breakthrough in automated molecular spectroscopy, bringing the efficiency of microplate-style sampling to the field of Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR). Traditionally, the need for meticulous crystal cleaning between every measurement has hindered ATR automation; however, the AutoATR overcomes this challenge by utilizing a unique 24-well microtiter plate platform with individual, replaceable sampling elements. This design allows high-throughput laboratories to process large-scale studies in fields such as biology, pharmaceutics, and food science with minimal manual intervention.

At the heart of the system is a specialized ATR crystal manufactured via advanced microtechnology. Each element consists of a 500-µm thick silicon wafer functionalized with multiple microprisms that efficiently couple the infrared beam into the crystal. This thin-profile design minimizes absorbance from silicon phonon bands, allowing researchers to access the entire mid-IR spectral range with sensitivity that often exceeds traditional single-reflection diamond ATR accessories. The all-reflective optical design, based on a diamond-turned ellipsoidal reflector, ensures exceptional energy throughput and reproducibility for every well.

The entire system is driven by the AutoPRO™ software, which manages the precision X,Y stage and initializes data collection. This integration facilitates complete traceability for multiple users and allows for the seamless import of sample descriptions. With its fully enclosed, purgeable housing and front-loading tray, the AutoATR integrates easily into the sample compartment of most commercial FTIR spectrometers, providing a robust and scalable solution for routine quality control and advanced research calibrations.
